@sgodofsk In the US, it's only Congress which is prohibited from making a law privileging or disrepecting a religion. Nothing is said about state governments doing so, and some state governments had such laws at the time and continued to have them.
@micyoung75 "[These voters want] the ability for their group to exercise power over a majority they find morally repugnant." and then the quotes are "We want our group to avoid a majority who hates us exercising power over us." A little odd that they show no supporting quotes for the thesis.
@rhesustime@pegobry_en@cremieuxrecueil I mean, if you don't know it's about wrinkles specifically, you might tell yourself a story about the right hand image's spotted cheeks, tired eyes, jaundice, or the left hand image's apparent alertness in comparison.
@HermanPontzer Summary basically says that in humans, total energy usage only increases 30% of the additive model (~70% "compensation"). Dieting makes compensation higher, while resistance training reduces compensation. In animals on a diet, compensation is about 100%.
@m0reover_@_britmonkey One is definitely theft. One is trespassing, which one could argue is a kind of theft, but also, many of these systems are government owned, which creates a gray area given that the jumper could be claiming restitution for tax-as-theft.
Online piracy is, at most, TOS violation.
@ZyMazza I skimmed the paper, and it seems clear that if I don't necessarily agree that rabbits are people, the conclusion misses me.
I suspect that once we have a real, testable explanation for consciousness, all this philosophy will seem not even wrong.
@Cerealbox0@TrueSlazac I did as well. However, so many of the questions were worded to exclude my true views, such as the one that conflates fare-hopping, shoplifting, and downloading.
@JamesSurowiecki@bittenicht7 Itβs not clear whether it explains it, since we donβt know just from this graph about thresholds, contagion or network effects, etc.
@Devon_Eriksen_@AnEriksenWife They need not have an explicit "kill all humans" goal for that to be the effect. Most possible goals do not include humans.
@Spaceception@DerekPederson3 You don't need continuous fusion, even, just fusion explosives of a type we already make for an Project-Orion-based ship that could reach single-digit percentages of the speed of light.
@DerekPederson3 We've seen a few interstellar travelers come through the solar system recently, which provides a direct proof of concept that objects near the size of a generation ship can travel from star to star.
