This is a proximity sensor. Waving your hands around and on it manipulates MIDI data. It can be coded to work anyway you please with the MIDI. It can be adapted to help anyone make music as seen by the sponge to help students who require some kind of contact for ease. #JMUMusTech

@BagayJohanna Yes, all forms of technology. It is much like how we have discussed creating "life-long learners" we too have to continue learning throughout our musical careers and keep up with the new tools and methods in an ever changing field

@GwynethTerry7 I believe that we as future teachers need to acknowledge that those two aspects of music learning can be intertwined and are not exactly different. I feel we need to show students how much we can do with music whether it is how classic music works or how we can make new music

@scarlettmued I think this should be a case-by-case situation. While some technology can help grasp music theory and other subjects, as far as performing or making music I think it depends on what the teacher hopes the students are able to get out of the course.
