Mainline trains across the South of England have ground to a halt this morning as a result of a GSM-R failure. It seems most trains are being stopped mid-journey whilst they try to resolve the issues.

@MartinSLewis This is timely! I was saying to someone a few days ago that there are some companies which have had ‘unusually high volume of calls’ messages and wait times of 1-hour+ continuously for years.
An ‘unusually low volume of staff answering calls’ might describe the issue better.

Amazing! Back in the Mercure Winchester for work, and it seems they have pulled their Twitter account to stop customers sharing their awful experiences. This room absolutely stinks. Mould anyone?
I think @MercureWinchest deserves a special award for the most poorly maintained hotel room I’ve stayed in for a few years. Big cracks in all of the bathroom suite; lack of sockets next to the bed; what might be dried shit on a light-switch; wonky lampshades; filthy carpet.
@georgewhyler Many workplaces talk about this a lot in terms of what it means for workplace culture, pay & reward, benefits etc - but I’d never talk about it as a ‘good’ thing. For me, it is always in the context of making sure the whole workforce is considered in decisions etc.
@Da_nn_eh This happened to me with Deliveroo twice. Order didn’t arrive, but still ‘We can’t refund you at this time’. I found the easiest thing with them was to request a chargeback through your bank. Probably the same with Uber.
