I of course agree with the way you interpret it here. The problem isn’t your logic. It’s that the framing is totally different. Example: You think of military service as a bigger sacrifice than setting A/C at 78. Which is true.
But for Schulz (and many outside of a restrictive political bubble, which he is) it’s not even the same spectrum. Thermostat doesn’t even register. It’s a different rule set altogether. And frankly, yeah, the city could fix this with revenues it generates, and it’s their job to fix primarily, not to fail its citizens in their homes).
So you’re right on the logic, but I think find this easier to call selfish than to understand the perspective in which “other people aren’t doing their jobs, so I’m not going to voluntarily make my life worse to bail them out”
Does this make sense
Fair take. My point was — that is a cocky take about machismo fueling bad opinions on a guy you haven’t looked much into (not that you’d like him much more anyway). That’s not what’s going on with him. But you confidently suggest it as if it’s true. You’re sniping others assuming things that aren’t the case.
Maybe that’s the more respectful way to say it. Sorry for coming in hot.
@saraballinger@dieworkwear My argument was he’s shooting his opinions off without knowing anything about who they’re coming from, and assumes intent that clearly isn’t so
