1) The gunman's sentence for his previous crimes linked to terrorism was far too lenient.

2) This is exactly the type of individual who should never be allowed to get his hands on a firearm. We have to do better.

The news and aftermath of the horrific shooting on Old Dominion University's campus have been tough to digest. I'm heartbroken for Lt. Col. Shah and his family. I'm hopeful that the other victims will be ok, and that the ODU community will emerge stronger.

Donald Trump — the walking national security threat making our country weaker and less safe by playing footsie with China and Russia while abandoning our allies — has now stopped the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project over made up national security concerns.

Civil rights icon Barbara Rose Johns now represents Virginia in the National Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capitol. She led a strike that helped spark Brown v. Board. It was an honor to help with this long-overdue effort under @RalphNortham along with many others.
