@pkhooker @timprebble@Cavanaudio@Serato@AvidProTools And btw I don’t think any of us expect this for free @Serato. You CAN charge for an update and I can almost guarantee every member of the post community would pay for it. It is truly one of our “desert island” plugins
@Cavanaudio@Serato@AvidProTools I second Matt’s statement! We’re all going native and it would be a shame to lose the industry standard pitch and time plug-in
🎞️ Co-Supervising Sound Editors Will Files (@sounddroid) and Matt Yocum (@mattyocumsound) went to great lengths using sound to imbue @DevotionMovie with authenticity, excitement, and subtlety.

@markkilborn Ah thanks Mark! The kind words mean a lot. I appreciate you watching and glad you found it enjoyable! Hopefully the Mix Event at Sony comes back in person this year and the sound community can hang!
We call lapel microphones lav mics. There is only one proper way to pronounce lav. If you call it a lav instead of a lav, we cannot be friends. Who’s with me?
@HDMOVIESOURCE@svs_sound But as you said there is no loudness standard for movies. It’s actually helpful that way because directors and mixers are free to utilize massive dynamic range and make creative decisions without having to adhere to a spec the way it happens with TV and Streaming
@HDMOVIESOURCE@svs_sound The mix stages regardless of the studios are all tuned to exactly -85dBSPL. This is the theatrical standard for room tuning. The differences you’re describing are because of a few different reasons. Mainly director preference, mixer preference/ear, room influence.
@HDMOVIESOURCE@svs_sound Ok ok I think I’m getting it. The thing that confused me (and maybe others who might read it) is you said “the movie is -6dB lower than normal volume”. Perhaps more clear language would have been “the movie was 6dB louder than the level I like to listen at comfortably”
@HDMOVIESOURCE@svs_sound Also, I THINK what I understand now is that you had to turn down Dune to have it play comfortably and you had to turn down Batman by -5dB to have it play comfortably? Is that correct?
@HDMOVIESOURCE@svs_sound Is this empirically measured somehow or is this anecdotal to what you think “feels” right? Not asking to be rude - genuinely curious
@HDMOVIESOURCE@svs_sound Plus Will Files (who mixed the fx and foley) mixes pretty dang loud lol. I’d be curious to hear the Blu-ray version to see if there was some sort of adjustment in the encoding which likely shouldn’t happen.
