Global intelligence and specialized aerospace agencies look at the Earth through a completely different technological lens than the standard commercial geological surveys, older magnetic data, and localized ground-sampling that the Zimbabwe authorities have traditionally relied on.
US$20 million dollars has already been spent by 3 global Emerging Markets Asset Managers with a combined ~US$1 trillion in assets under management on an incredibly accurate mapping exercise over a period of a year.
This US$20m outlay was specifically described/dismissed to me by these guys as "cheap micro-bet" and a "negligible rounding error".
Do you remember when, right here on X, I repeatedly spoke about "covert operations" around the Zambezi Valley area?
That was the activity of these teams.
It's a good thing no one reads or pays attention, no?
I have permission to say this since this is already done and out of the country:
Your @caaz_online authorised, in ignorance, the importation of military-grade drones that carried Quantum Magnetometer, Gamma-Ray Spectrometer sensors & LiDAR laser scanners.
These were legally imported under standard commercial descriptions.
CAAZ, in their defense, couldn't have known otherwise. To a customs officer, the way these were labelled made them look like standard engineering equipment used every day by road contractors, environmental scientists, or agricultural researchers.
That's how covert operations work, unfortunately.
The data these drones gathered was processed through "inversion software" & "mathematical inversion codes" back in the States (Houston, specifically).
These software systems can identify a specific mineral group even if it makes up only 10% of a mixed pixel on a screen.
The Asset Managers, like it not, now hold a highly accurate, 3D volumetric model of their targeted underground geology.
There's a reason they took a year: two sets of data were gathered: one set during the dry season & another set just after the rains. There's a reason they needed to do that as well (specialist geologists amongst you will know why).
Combining the satellite structural blueprints with the drone data, the asset managers' software told them the exact size, depth, and layout of the deposits.
This is what's allowing them to commit to a $15 billion infrastructure play with complete confidence.
"We are probably the only entities that can walk into Zimbabwe today and tell you to drill at a specific spot & what mineral you'll get at what depth and in what volumes."
When we asked the top three AI models to guess the identities of these Asset Managers, just one of them was able to get a single one right.
That's why I have permission to say this.
The proposal for a EV componentsAI hardware stack hub is off the table for now as my previous post explained.
But the Asset Managers are still committed to a US$15 billion proposal to build a 3 to 5000 MW power plant & a 550 kilometer Cape-gauge rail line along a path already plotted by the drone activity.
There is no doubt at all in their mind that this entire envisaged investment would be paid back within a ~5 year time horizon from the day it starts running. Power generated through this investment has a ready market in Zim and the region, they confirm.
The US$15 billion budget includes, if you can believe it, a US$2.5 billion contingency capital buffer!!
They have incentivised proposals for the gvt of Zimbabwe, which may already have been submitted to them, I'm not sure. You can ask the Zim gvt about that.
If you're interested in this field, go ahead and ask any question you like about this and I'll do my best to get the answer for you, @matigary@Mavhure@mimmitwit.
As usual & as I've said here repeatedly through the years, I still find it pointless to answer questions coming from people who clearly haven't read what I've written or are reacting to a single point out of the context of what I've already said here.
The African Export-Import Bank has approved US$190 million in financing to CBZ Bank, for on-lending to the bank’s clients:
• US$150 million revolving trade finance facility to provide trade funding and letters of credit to Zim firms.
• US$20 million facility for SMEs involved in trade.
• US$20 million to allow CBZ Bank to participate in a US$210 million syndicated facility being arranged for power utility ZETDC.
One of the Most Ridiculous and Craziest Moment in Cricket! 🤯😂
Tom Curran kept doing his run-up on the same pitch where the match was going to be played. Even after the umpire repeatedly told him to stop, he refused to listen
Finally, the umpire stood right in the middle of Curran's run-up. Both of them refused to back down. Then Curran charged in again, making it look like he was about to kick the umpire, forcing the umpire to quickly move out of the way! 😂
Because of this ridiculous behavior, Tom Curran was suspended for 4 matches. 🤯😂
Nasser Hussain and Muttiah Muralitharan were sitting together in the commentary box when Nasser said, “I was a very good player of spin. I averaged over 50 against Murali.”👀
Murali smiled and replied, “Yes… but I got you out 11 times.” 😄
Then Simon Helmot invited them to settle it with one ball. Even at 54 years of age, Murali bowled a beauty that completely beat Nasser on the very first delivery The entire ground burst into laughter, and Nasser could only laugh along 😂😂
Nvidia founder Jensen Huang admits he was terrified to raise money for the company because he couldn’t answer investors’ questions, and says he still barely can, three decades later.
“There were no YouTube, no YC, nobody’s teaching you how to start a company. And so I went to the bookstore and I bought a book, and the book said how to start a company. Unfortunately the book was like 500 pages long, and so I figured by the time I read it, I’d be out of business, and Lori and I’d be out of money.”
“The thing I remember very, very vividly is how scared I was to go raise money, because I felt that I was about to talk to a bunch of people and I didn’t know how to answer their questions.”
“And it’s true. And I barely know how to answer their questions even today.”
“None of that stuff matters, as it turns out. And you’re always going to have things that you don’t know.”
It’s no secret I have a close relationship with Zimbabwe, so I’m always routing for them as a country, for the people, for their cricket.
That said, with the World Cup coming up next year I’d encourage people to look at Victoria Falls as a destination to visit and watch games, even if it’s not your team, you won’t be disappointed, I promise you that!
Cape Town is the obvious choice for hot spot right now, but I have a feeling after the WC supporters will say Vic Falls was their favorite. Don’t miss out. You’re welcome 👊
It was a privilege and an honor to have officiated at the launch of the Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Exchange (ZEEX) this morning. ZEEX is not merely a new platform, but a deliberate intervention to correct a long-standing imbalance where the businesses that anchor our economy have had the least access to capital markets to grow.
Congratulations to the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange, its Board and Management, for the vision and diligence behind this initiative. Over the past few years, we saw the ZSE Group diversify with intention, from the establishment of the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange, to the introduction of new instruments such as REITs and ETFs, the self-listing of ZSE Holdings, and the launch of ZEEX today.
The launch of ZEEX speaks directly to the pillars of our National Development Strategy (NDS) 2 and Vision 2030. The goal of becoming an upper-middle-income economy by 2030 cannot be realized on the strength of large enterprises alone. It requires a broad and dynamic base of enterprises.
Entrepreneurs and small businesses that are formalized, financed, and integrated into the mainstream economy are essential to this vision. NDS2 is explicit on the need to deepen financial markets, promote financial inclusion, and support private sector-led growth. ZEEX is a direct and practical expression of that policy intent.
The launch of ZEEX comes at an opportune time, when SMEs contribute over 60% to national GDP and employ more than 70% of the national workforce. This is testament to the fact that while SMEs play a pivotal role in Zimbabwe's economic activity, they largely operate outside our formal capital markets. This denies them structured access to capital, narrows tax revenues, and results in shallow capital markets.
Its establishment changes the narrative by offering entrepreneurs and SMEs a structured, technology-enabled route to raise capital, whether through private placements or public listings. ZEEX gives these businesses the tools to formalize, to scale, and to access the kind of patient capital that has long been out of reach.
Historically, this type of capital has been reserved for large corporates. This benefits the businesses themselves, and the economy through the deepening of capital markets. Every new issuer, instrument, and investor drawn into this space adds liquidity, depth, and credibility to Zimbabwe's financial sector.
Elon Musk predicts AI will exceed the sum of human intelligence in 5 years:
"I think AI may exceed the sum of human intelligence in around five years. Roughly five years is my guess. So there really won't be anything that AI can't do better than humans, apart from being human perhaps"
"The most likely outcome is an age of amazing abundance where anyone can have anything they can think of. This may sound preposterous, but here we are in 2026. Let's see where we stand in 2036"
"Of course there are things that could derail this, like a massive global thermonuclear war or something like that. But assuming that there's not, I think we're headed for an age of amazing abundance"
"If the difference in intelligence between AI and humans is vastly greater than the difference in intelligence between AI and chimpanzees, it's hard to imagine that the chimpanzees would be in charge"
"We are essentially an evolved form of chimpanzee. It wasn't that long ago that we were swinging through the trees eating bananas in the jungle, and we still eat bananas"
