The future USS John F. Kennedy (CVN-79) has successfully completed Navy acceptance trials, marking a major milestone toward delivery of the second Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carrier to the fleet, as announced by the U.S. Navy's Portfolio Acquisition Executive (PAE).

Acceptance trials are the Navy's formal evaluation of the completed ship to determine whether it meets its required performance and capabilities. With the trials complete, Kennedy moves toward delivery to the Navy in March 2027, followed by additional post-delivery work, crew training and certification before entering operational service.

Kennedy is the second ship of the Ford class, incorporating systems including EMALS electromagnetic catapults, Advanced Arresting Gear and Advanced Weapons Elevators.
