STOP CRUSHING OPEN MERIT IN J&K
The Open Merit Students Association (OMSA) – J&K strongly condemns the ongoing discrimination and exclusion faced by merit-based candidates in the latest recruitment processes across the Union Territory.
In the recruitment for Civil Judge (Junior Division), only 17 out of 42 posts have been marked for Open Merit (OM). Even these 17 are open to all categories, making them effectively non-exclusive for OM candidates.
In the recent recruitment notification from Cluster University of Kashmir, all 6 posts were allotted to reserved categories and none for OM. This is a direct denial of fair opportunity to deserving students from the Open Merit pool.
This pattern clearly reflects a deliberate sidelining of merit. Such recruitment policies are creating a dangerous precedent where Open Merit youth are being treated as if they have no place in the system they are competing within.
Adding to this frustration is the delay in the Sub-Committee report on reservation policy. The committee was given 6 months, but 5 months have already passed. Only one month is left, and there is no sign of the report being released.
We raise a simple, logical question:
If the report is submitted this late, when will it be implemented?
Recruitments are going ahead rapidly. If appointments are made before the report is acted upon, the whole purpose of this committee collapses.
We issue the following firm demands:
1. The Sub-Committee must immediately release its full and final report without further delay.
2. All recruitment processes must be paused until the new reservation framework is implemented.
3. The administration must ensure that Open Merit candidates are not further punished for the inefficiency and delay of policy reforms.
The Open Merit Students Association will not allow this injustice to go unchallenged. We will continue to raise our voice until merit is given the space and respect it deserves.

Even phone cameras are unable to capture the scene, due to the intensity of the flames and the speed and ferocity of the strikes. A never-ending hell, a scene as if the apocalypse had occurred. Gaza is being burned to the ground, the most violent strikes ever💔🇵🇸😭
When you lock the doors of a mosque on Laylat-ul-Qadr, you confess your fear of a people’s faith.
You shackle not a structure, but the hearts of Kashmiris on a night Allah calls ‘greater than a thousand months.’ By no measure is this governance, it is cowardice.
You permit obscenity on Ski Slops yet forbid worship. You allow the erosion of our dignity, but tremble at the unity of our prayers. A democratic right and religious duty. Do you fear our whispered duas?
Tomorrow, on Youm al-Quds, after Friday prayers, we will remember Palestine’s martyrs and Kashmir’s prisoners. Our faith is not confined to mosques, it rises in streets, cells, and the unseen spaces where colonial policies turn to dust.
"If, according to the National Crime Records Bureau, there's no caste discrimination in Jammu and Kashmir, why reservations to castes in government employment and scholarship... RBA can't be given to the villages for centuries which were enlisted in 1981 and are still falsely shown as "backward". If their socio-economic benchmarks haven't changed in 44 years, when would the same change? RBA benefit had to be given to only the people of the below poverty line, but unscrupulous votebank politicians made it a backdoor for multimillionaires. EWS has proven to be another fraud. J&K Reservation Policy 2004 and 2024 is a flagrant injustice to the Open Merit / General Category candidates who constitute 70% of the UT population but get only 28-38% share in government jobs and scholarships": Reservation activist @themirmujeeb says in "Kashmir Podcast with Ahmed Ali Fayyaz" on #talkistan.

#WATCH || We are not against reservations. We are against killing merit. The actual #scam is within the reservations. If 100 aspirants appear in an exam, 40 is for open merit and 50.78 are from Jammu and 9.22 are from #Kashmir. Even before you apply reservation, Kashmiris are already crowded out.
Biggest culprit are Kashmiri officers. I don't know whether they don't issue these certificates on their own or is policy.
NC handle had tweeted that Reservation Committee will submit report within 6 months, but in Assembly Govt says there is no timeline: @sajadlone in a presser conference

Now that the Transaction of Business rules have been finalised ,time to deliver on the commitments of Rationalisation, Phase 1 :
-Simple Executive order which was promised within a month otherwise.
-Items like Horizontals, NEET PG issues Sro 49,Rule 17 & EWS (Residential Asset criteria ) that have no bearing on other Reserved categories.
If the Govt isn't serious about Phase 1 items which it itself got reviewed by GAD & LAW depts as ' perfectly doable within one month' (been 3 months since) ,then what is the point of waiting 6 months for Comprehensive Rationalisation ?
The Phase 1 is a litmus test ,it's way past time there is some concrete action .
We have waited paitently ,and waited long enough. Don't force us to go the Daily wagers' route who aren't even 0.01% population !
