So here’s the thing about this prediction.

It’s never going to get retconned. Not after 4 mainline titles spanning across nearly a decade with an entire generation growing up having the 343 games their introduction to the franchise.

My honest prediction? Activision will probably create a new timeline for Halo similar to the Silver Timeline from the TV series.

As a fan since Combat Evolved, retconning everything after Halo 3 and starting fresh would immediately reignite my interest in Halo.

Unfortunately, I don’t think the corporate thought process will go there. And that’s a shame, because a true soft reboot after Halo 3 could be exactly what Halo needs to come back.
