@bglendenning@maxrushden I’ve heard it said ‘order is restored’ but seeing United lose/draw is this a case of ‘narrative restored’? Long may it continue!
@CritchleyUpdate as someone who adores (and often despises) football as well as being someone who’s MA dissertation was about the possibility of authenticity, looking as Dasein & bad faith, this has been one of the most pleasant evenings I’ve had in some time! Excellent book!!
@JacobSteinberg Come to think of it, seem to remember German FA twitter account complaining about Cardiff defenders tackle on Sane because they wanted him fit for World Cup...
@Mark_Salkeld@luke_bwfc@tsf_podcast Completely agree that £ has eroded value of trophies and what counts as success. Look at FA Cup. Neither tomorrow that win it tomorrow will consider it successful. Shame.
@Mark_Salkeld@luke_bwfc@tsf_podcast Cracking revisionism. Europa League was clear objective for Arsenal at start of the season. But I suppose finishing without a trophy and being points wise closer to relegation than to champions is better than a ‘consolation’ Europa League. It’s European charity shield after all
@luke_bwfc@Mark_Salkeld@tsf_podcast Which worked wonders for them, losing to Sevilla. Even if the competition is seen as a gateway to UCL, it’s still being taken seriously. Insisting ‘we don’t care’ sounds like the complete opposite.
@Mark_Salkeld@luke_bwfc@tsf_podcast So it’s a completion for Europeans, a ‘consolation prize’ for British clubs...You’d have a point if British clubs were bossing the UCL but...
@Mark_Salkeld@luke_bwfc@tsf_podcast Arsenal took it very seriously this year. As did Man United last year and Liverpool the year before that. Also, the competition is validated by British interest.
@tsf_podcast Risible British attitude of ‘well we don’t take it seriously, if we did then a British team would win it every year’. Frankly a pathetic attitude to anything that blows a massive hole in the ‘EPL is the best league’ BS.
