GEN Z: I applied to 340 jobs this year. I have a degree. I have internship experience. I customized every single resume.

OLDER GENERATION: Back in my day you just walked into a building and asked for an application.

GEN Z: There's no building. There's no person. There's a portal that scans my resumes for keywords before a human ever sees it exists.

OLDER GENERATION: Sounds like you're not trying hard enough.

GEN Z: I got 6 human responses out of 340 applications. The other 334 were auto-rejections generated in under a second, Sometimes I'd even finished submitting the form.

OLDER GENERATION: We didn't have it easy either, you know.

GEN Z: I believe you. I'm just telling you what "easy" and "hard" look like on opposite ends of the same system, and asking you to actually hear it instead of matching it to your own story and moving on.
