Americans have trusted local media more than national since the mid-1990s.

We show that roughly *half* of that is due to the "local trust heuristic" - people trust news that seems local, whether real or fake.

@RaqCenteno With quotas of course. I recently did 33/33/33 I/D/R on Prolific (according to their measure) and the responses I got on the 7-point PID scale were surprisingly close to most recent ANES estimate.

@RaqCenteno Yep, let everyone in and eat cost for pure independents. And their data may be useful in other ways (e.g., assessing data quality) even if you don’t use them in your main analyses.
