Remember, Labour had 14 years to prepare for government.
They repeatedly demanded a general election almost every day since 2022.
They presented themselves as the “grown ups”.
Within 16 months, they’ve reminded the public why they were in opposition for 14 years.
I’m 27.
I’m single.
I have a modest income.
I have a Plan 2 student loan repayment.
I have a LISA.
I had to move back in with parents after University and I’m still there.
I don’t claim benefits.
I save.
And according to Rachel Thieves, I’m fair game to be taxed until I squeak.
Never watched such a shambles of a budget! The HoC is like a childish circus. Next year we will be IMF year sadly 😞 You cannot tax Your way to growth. If you remove rewards for hard work& instead reward doing nothing, then stop supporting those saving for the future why would anyone keep on trying to do so?
@Helen_Barnard What world do you live in? Maybe have a chat with struggling parents who don’t have multiple children, work hard and are receiving no extra financial help?
If you and your other half are looking forward to getting up early tomorrow morning to go to work to pay even MORE tax to fund even MORE welfare spending, you may be interested to know...
There are 440,000 low income families who will now be eligible for an extra £3,500 a year from taxpayers for EACH child they have above 2 kids. Some have six or more kids.
Of those families, 180,000 have NO parents in work while just 46,000 have BOTH parents in work, many of whom work only part-time.
So don't forget to enjoy your alarm clock going off tomorrow!
I don’t care if your home is worth £2m. Well done to you.
You’ve worked hard to buy it, using money you’ve already been taxed on, and you’ve also paid stamp duty to buy it.
For a govt to then say they deserve *more* money, literally for *nothing* every month due to its value is so obscene.
It’s everything wrong with the direction this country is heading- full
of envy, spite, and the penalising of hard work.
Next time you hear someone casually using the phrase
“Far right”
About some mainstream view…
Remember: abolishing most jury trials is about the most authoritarian thing mooted by government in your lifetime.
Right then... so what she's saying is that...
If you have worked hard, saved money all your life in order to not burden the state
If you have tried to better yourself and provide for your children by feeding them.
If you haven't been able to afford children because you have chosen to work
If you have started a business in the hope you can eventually sell and use your gains to fund your old age
If you did as you were told and bought a hybrid car
If you invested in an ISA to help you save
If you employed young workers to train them and help them develop
If you bought a house and invested in with tax paid salary, so you had a bit of a nest egg
If you only had the children you could afford....
You are all fucked! Today, you have been told that all those people who did none of the above will be funded even more by you.
BREAKING: The Office of Budget Responsibility has ‘accidentally’ published the entire Budget BEFORE the Chancellor has delivered it.
Ironically, this is the most irresponsible Budget act ever perpetrated, and just about sums up this clueless Labour government.
