@MaxRovensky@zeddotdev This is intentional; cmd-w closes what's focused, so if you explicitly focus the project panel, it'll close that. I see that in VS code, it always closes your most recently active tab. I personally wouldn't want that, but it also seems reasonable.
@LydonWasTaken @zeddotdev It sounds like we have a bug in our upgrade path, where the intended behavior is to preserve your layout. Thanks for raising it.
@kineyDE@zeddotdev Our intended behavior is that for existing users, we would update their settings file to preserve the old defaults. Clearly that logic didn't work for you. Would you mind opening an issue, and if possible, sharing what's in your settings.json after upgrading?
@LydonWasTaken @zeddotdev Did you install via auto-update? We've changed the defaults, but if you're an existing user and auto-updated, your original panel positions should be preserved. Please open an issue if not. In any case, you can move the panels back by right clicking the icons.
Parallel Agents just shipped. Mix and match any agent, run them all at once, and manage everything from a new Threads Sidebar. Claude Agent, Codex, Zed's agent, or anything on ACP. One window, across all your projects.

Zeta2 is here. 30% better acceptance rate than Zeta1. 200x more training data, LSP-powered context, faster predictions, open weights. Try it now in Zed.
We didn't just improve the model. We rebuilt the entire data pipeline behind it: https://t.co/FOresFJMNn
I'm really glad to be working with Baseten. Their inference stack is fast and reliable, and their team is *super* smart. It's been really helpful to consult with their ML engineers while iterating on our edit prediction model.
Zed built its editor from scratch because performance is non-negotiable for a responsive IDE. When your product lives or dies by how fast it feels, inference has to be invisible.
We're proud to partner with @zeddotdev as they build the editor of the future.
@ctjlewis If you're working on a large complex codebase, and *didn't* experience Opus 4.5 as crossing a threshold in capabilities, I think you are in the minority.
@Hiteshdotcom@zeddotdev Damn, sorry to hear this is happening. We'd love to reproduce and fix. What video recording software are you using? What hardware are you on? If you ever have time, and could grab an Activity Monitor sample of Zed while the slowness is happening, we'd love to see.
