🚨 Rodrigo De Paul on honouring Messi’s father after scoring:
🗣️ Reporter:
“What was going through your mind after you scored?”
🗣️ Rodrigo De Paul:
“It was a very emotional game for me. I was carrying a lot of emotions throughout the whole match. Honestly, I didn’t even want to play because of how emotional I was, but I had to. I wanted to be there and look strong for Leo.
He always speaks so highly of his dad and about the sacrifices he made for him to get to where he is today. We didn’t talk much about it, but you could feel the emotion in his voice.
So after I scored, I was overwhelmed with emotions. I had the No. 10 shirt hidden underneath mine, and that was the only way I felt I could pay my respects and honour his father.”
It’s wild how you can be a genuine friend to some and a problem to others without changing who you are.
Sometimes your existence is enough to make insecure people uncomfortable 🤚🏻
