Olojo Festival 2026: Ile-Ife prepares for another celebration of Yoruba heritage

The stage is set for the 2026 Olojo Festival in Ile-Ife, the historic spiritual centre of the Yoruba people.

As preparations intensify, Arole Oduduwa remains in seclusion, observing the traditional period of prayers and spiritual reflection for the Yoruba race ahead of his emergence adorned with the sacred Ade Are.

The annual Olojo Festival brings together culture, history, spirituality and Yoruba heritage, reaffirming Ile-Ife’s enduring place as a sacred centre of Yoruba civilisation.

May this year’s Olojo Festival bring peace, unity, prosperity and renewed cultural pride to the Yoruba people worldwide.

We have taken another significant step towards unlocking the economic potential of Ogun State with the signing of Memoranda of Understanding with DP World MEA FZE for the development of the Gateway Deep Sea Port and the Ogun State Blue Marine Special Economic Zone.

The projects, witnessed by our President, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in Paris, France, are expected to attract more than $7 billion in initial investment and create over 50,000 direct jobs, while opening new opportunities in manufacturing, logistics, maritime services, exports and other sectors.

The Gateway Deep Sea Port in Ogun Waterside will be integrated with a proposed 10,000-hectare Blue Marine Special Economic Zone and connected to other strategic infrastructure, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and our Gateway International Airport.

For us, this is about much more than building a port. We are creating an integrated economic corridor capable of connecting Ogun State’s productive capacity to markets across Africa and the rest of the world.

We appreciate President Tinubu for the leadership and federal support that have helped move this long-standing vision closer to reality. We equally commend the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, the Nigerian Ports Authority and all our partners for their commitment.

Under our Building Our Future Together agenda, we remain committed to attracting investments, creating jobs and positioning Ogun State as a leading industrial, logistics and investment destination.

You see, Afe Babalola is one of the greatest Nigerians alive and is one of the greatest sons of Ekiti State.

The man educated himself out of lack and poverty. He homeschooled himself to pass...

An excellent lawyer and arguably the wealthest man in Ekiti state.

Mr governor possesses greater influence and power than Afe Babalola, yet Yoruba cultural prioritize showing respect to elders over acknowledging power.
