Tanzaniaโs cashew industry is growing at a remarkable pace, driven by increased farming, new processing plants, and strong investment in value addition.
In the 2024/25 season, Tanzania produced approximately 528,260 tonnes of raw cashew nuts, generating export earnings of about TZS 1.52 trillion, equivalent to approximately USD 583.7 million. This confirms cashew as one of Tanzaniaโs key export crops with strong industrial potential.
At Maranje Industrial Park in Mtwara, the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania, the Government, and private investors are driving a major transformation of the sector. The park covers about 1,572 acres and is planned to accommodate 30 cashew processing factories, 6 cashew shell oil factories, 4 sesame processing factories, and other supporting facilities.
The video shows the cashewnut processing plant for Mateak Holding Group Limited, currently under construction at Maranje Industrial Park. The factory sits on an area of more than 10 acres and will include cashewnut processing facilities, CNSL oil production, and kernel briquette production.
The project is being constructed by Mkwawa Construction Limited as the contractor.
This is the kind of transformation Tanzania needs: moving from raw cashew export to local processing, value addition, job creation, industrial growth, and export-ready finished products.
BASEPRO ENGINEERING LIMITED is proud to be part of this transformation by supporting industrial project development, factory construction, machinery coordination, and value-addition infrastructure across Tanzania.
