The Prem returns tomorrow, here are three new signings to watch, and an angle to keep an eye on for each. ๐๐ผ
๐ด Christos Tzolis - Goal Involvements
Tzolis really impressed during the Community Shield, picking up two assists, and his form for Brugge last season proves this isnโt a fluke.
Last year he registered 40 goal involvements, ranking second for goals and top for assists in the league. Although his stats were lower in the Champions League, they show he was getting himself into dangerous positions.
He averaged 1.5 shots on target and 3.96 chances created P/90, even when playing for a weaker side. Given Arsenal will be one of the strongest attacking sides this season, he should get plenty of opportunities.
He showed his quality against City and I think he could start the season in similar fashion against Coventry. Heโs definitely one to keep tabs on.
๐ต Marco Palestra - Fouls Drawn
Last season Palestra was the most fouled player in Serie A by a mile. He was fouled over 25 more times than second place, averaging 3.15 fouls won P/90.
He mainly played as a wing-back for Cagliari, pushing high up the pitch getting involved in the attack. This fits perfectly with Alonsoโs play style, especially when he successful with Leverkusen, where his wing-backs were very key.
Across the four pre-season games he has started in, his fouls drawn stats read: 2, 2, 3, 3. This is as both a wing-back and full-back.
This is definitely an angle to keep an eye on.
๐ฉต Caleb Yirenkyi - Fouls Committed & Cards
Yirnenkyi ranked highest for fouls committed for Ghana at the World Cup, averaging 2.39 fouls committed P/90, as well as first for yellows across the whole team.
This was consistent in his last season too. He ranked first for fouls committed and yellow cards for Nordsjรฆlland, playing in either defence or as a defensive mid.
For Frank Lampard's side last season, their defensive mid, Onyeka, had one of their highest averages for fouls committed, 1.85 P/90. I would expect Yirenkyi to take up this role this season.
Coventry have trips to Arsenal and Man City amongst their opening three games, so it's definitely an angle I'll be looking at.
18+, gamble responsibly
