@machado86@LinkedInLunat1c No worries, to be fair most investors who invest in deep tech don’t go round telling people that they invest in deep tech so she’s probably exaggerating. It’s also probably why you haven’t heard the term before.
Yeah it's a bit of a grey area, companies will try and claim they are when they're not but it's R&D on a fundamental piece of tech that is deep in the tech stack. Most apps are built with a backend and frontend frameworks, talking to a database, which is surface-level tech. Most developers can build with that, but with deep tech you'll generally have to pay a lot for specialists or professors etc build out tech stack.
Deep tech basically means hard. For instance, if you launch a generic consumer app like a dating or marketplace app you’re going to be using off the shelf web tech and focusing on what features give you an edge. However, if you build a completely new way robots map their environment, this would be called deep tech because you’re not using existing tech to solve them problem. It’s riskier but has bigger payoffs
@buckaroo40235@Originsingamer@yungjaxa@ford346883@T00ManyCommies@WesleyTheChad@CigsMake I’m a UK software engineer who’s written multiple books. The best engineers I’ve seen have been American and all our top startups focus on the USA. USA investors are sought after. Don’t know why Europeans are rude to Americans online. They all love what the USA provides.

@5hanth@SurrealDB@huggingface we will be working on on Huggingface integration later, but as you can see in the blogpost we have pytorch packaging tools, so if you have a model that can run in pytorch, it can also run it on surrealdb
With SurrealML, you can easily embed Machine Learning models into SurrealDB, elevating your query capabilities to a new level never seen before. 🤩

@OReillyMedia#async#rust book is now in pre-release. Hopefully, we have done the field justice. We have tried to make the book as accessible as possible. Any feedback would be great as we are still in the editing stage #asyncrust: https://t.co/05c2vy9ahA
