For high school EDGE rushers, college coaches are evaluating far more than sacks and flashy plays. They want to see complete defensive linemen who can impact the game in multiple ways and consistently win with effort, technique, athleticism, and football IQ.
When building your film, make sure you highlight:
✅ Explosive get-off and first-step quickness
✅ Ability to bend and flatten to the quarterback
✅ Pass rush moves and counters
✅ Speed-to-power conversion
✅ Hand usage and disengagement ability
✅ Run defense and edge setting
✅ Pursuit effort and motor
✅ Play recognition and football IQ
✅ Consistency snap after snap
✅ Game-changing production
College coaches are evaluating every detail:
• How you align
• How you react at the snap
• How you use your hands
• How you finish plays
• How hard you play when the ball goes away from you
• How you respond versus run and pass
The best EDGE films show more than highlights. They show traits that translate to the next level.
Do not just show sacks.
Show disruption.
Show effort.
Show toughness.
Show versatility.
Show why you can be trusted on every down.
Your film should answer one question for coaches:
“Can this player help us win football games?”
Kobe on Leadership:
"Leadership is Lonely. If you are going to be a leader, you are not going to please everybody. You have to hold people accountable. Even if you have that moment of being uncomfortable."
High School Stunts:
DT - "Hey.....what technique am I suppose to be in?"
DE - "Coach said 3 tech vs this formation"
DT - "Thanks!"
(dramatic pause)
DT - "What's a 3 tech again?"
