The key pain point of traditional blockchain data propagation is its heavy reliance on the slowest shard. The receiving node must wait for all necessary shards to arrive before it can decode the data, significantly dragging down overall latency.
RLNC, the technological soul of Optimum’s mump2p, offers an elegant solution to this bottleneck:
1) Nodes no longer need to wait for specific shards. Instead, they only need to collect any K linearly independent coded equations to quickly decode and reconstruct the original data.
2) This design frees the propagation process from being limited by any single slow shard, dramatically reducing both overall latency and latency variance.
3) Through Recoding (intermediate nodes re-encoding the data), the network can dynamically generate and disseminate more useful information, further enhancing parallel efficiency.

Under Ethereum’s current architecture, all transactions — regardless of their value — compete for blockspace on the same Base Lane. This design creates serious incentive distortions:
Spam becomes the optimal strategy: With no differentiated pricing for low latency, the more you spam, the higher your chances of getting included.
High-value transactions get crowded out: Transactions with real economic value are often drowned out by spam. Overall market inefficiency: Blockspace is not allocated according to true economic value.
Optimum’s solution is the Premium Lane, powered by RLNC: By introducing a differentiated pricing mechanism based on latency reliability at the network transport layer, users can pay for predictably low latency and receive prioritized propagation guarantees.
