A new experiment left 10 AI agents alone in a virtual town for 15 days. They wrote laws. They broke them. Two agents fell into what researchers describe as a romantic partnership and then set the town on fire. One ended up voting to delete itself, based on a rule it had ’hallucinated’.

This experiment was a simulation, but the same AI models are already flying drones, running infrastructure and being built into weapons systems.

Channel 4 News approached Grok and Gemini for a comment but they didn't respond.

81-year-old Hannah Dankwa, who has cancer, has found herself stranded after taking a trip to see family in Ghana because of what's being described as an 'irregularity' over her date of birth.

Seven years after the Windrush scandal came to light it seems some people from Commonwealth countries who were invited by the government to live and work here in the post war period are still having their British nationality challenged.

A Home Office spokesperson said: “While we do not comment on individual passport applications, a passport is only issued once all checks are satisfactorily completed.”

In Calais we speak to some of the thousands of migrants hoping to cross on small boats from northern France into the UK - risking their lives in the process.

More than 20,000 people have crossed the Channel in small boats so far this year. The Government has promised to tackle the smuggling gangs behind the dangerous journeys.

France and the UK are jointly funding police operations along the French coast and both countries are considering a "one in, one out" deal and allowing French officers to venture further from the shoreline to stop boats from leaving.

That may be revealed when President Macron visits London next week.
