- 1968: Sopan Gaikwad aged 55, buys a land with a registered deed. Later, he came to know that the land was already mortgaged to a bank.
- 1969: Bank sends him a notice for loan default by the original owner. Sopan goes to court.
- 1982: After 14 years, trial court gives judgment in Sopan’s favour. He is 69. Original owner challenges the decision.
- 1987: High Court cancels the judgment. Sopan is 74.
- 1988: Sopan files appeal in High Court. He is 75.
- 2015: After 27 years of pending appeal, High Court dismisses his case. Sopan is 102. He files another appeal.
- 2019: High Court dismisses second appeal for delay and lawyer’s non appearance. Sopan did not know his lawyer was absent. He is 106.
- 2021: Sopan approaches Supreme Court. He is 108.
- 12 July 2021: Supreme Court agrees to hear the case. On the same day, lawyer informs that Sopan has died.

Sopan bought land at 55. He fought for ownership for 53 years and died at 108.

The MP govt has raised reservation in direct recruitment to 73%. The remaining 27% isn’t earmarked for general category, it’s open to all.

The matter went to the SC, where the MP govt, in its affidavit, made arguments like these:

The Varna system deprived 80% Bahujan Shudras of rights and exploited them for centuries.

This system, reinforced by ideas of God’s will, rebirth, and fatalism, left Shudras so crippled that they could not even imagine resisting injustice.

All of this can be disproven with even a little scrutiny, yet it’s shocking to hear such statements from a BJP govt. One would expect them to bridge divides and unite Hindus, this does the exact opposite. And if BJP truly wants to follow this path, why stop short? Why not reserve 100% for Bahujans? Why not close the doors entirely to the general category and be done with it for once and all?

I don’t give a shit to ‘if Congress was in power, how the budget would be’, I am more concerned with who is ruling now and how the fuck they get to suck my blood to fund the endless schemes and I get ‘punya’.

You remove angel tax and introduce devilish increments elsewhere. This government is so cut off from reality that it believes people who earn 7 lakhs, can survive in tier 2-3 cities, take care of their parents and send their kids to good school.

Well, that doesn’t happen. You can’t control education fees, the cost of books and uniforms and so on!

What exactly is middle class getting? Are your government schools up to any good? Are your government hospitals in small cities not in shitty conditions? You are basically asking everyone to come to metros for good education and health.

Creating AIIMS, IITs and IIMs is great, but are they comparable to the old ones? Do you have the same quality there?

So, please tell me where the hell should these honest taxpayers go? May be we should all collectively buy tractors and march to Delhi, so that one fine day these stupid tax rates, which are not in sync with inflation or spending, are revised.
