@HABrazeau @PeterSoroye @MissEmilieC @alinacfisher, I've been in touch with @StephenBHeard re #EcoEvoEnto2019, and am hoping we can chat about your plans for live tweeting. I'll be live-tweeting as well for our team, so thought a DM chat might be useful (my DMS should be open!).
This will be my first event for live tweeting! I've done it while fangirling television shows--it will be fun to see how different this will be.

We're getting ready for next week's #EcoEvoEnto2019, which is being held this year @UNBFredericton! Just as a heads up, our normal content for Monday thru Wednesday will be preempted by content from the conference, which we'll be live-tweeting.
@CSEE_Meetings@CSEE_SCEE
Brianna has provided so much amazing content for #TheSecretLifeOfScience--she has gone above and beyond in her role to make this whole Twitter project happen. So glad I am finally getting to share some of it! Thank you, @BriannaLevenst1! π
#SciComm#WomenInSTEAM
This week's #TheSecretLifeOfScience comes from @BriannaLevenst1, who shared her toughest hike to a research site. See attached graphic for deets, as well as photos from hike, courtesy of Krista Chin at GNWT (& check our our reply to this tweet for video)! #SciTwitter#Biology
So excited for @mayfly_gal. I had the opportunity to sit in on her two practice presentations, as well as the actual thesis defense, and was so impressed with the leaps and bounds she made with each iteration of the presentation. She worked so hard to get here! #SciComm#Ecology
We are thrilled to announce that yesterday @mayfly_gal, Julia Howland, successfully defended her thesis! We all went out for a congratulatory lunch to celebrate.
Well done, Julia! π

When your boss gets a shout-out in an article from the #BBC, it's pretty darn cool.
Also, the graphics from this article are INCREDIBLE. What a beautiful visual presentation.
#SciComm#Ecology
We promised something exciting for today, and we're gonna deliver: our very own Dr. Alexa Alexander-Trusiak was featured in a #BBC interview by @ljevanso as an expert on the ecological impact of multiple stressors!
Take a look: https://t.co/iaOtMe44Yk
#SciTwitter#Ecotoxicology
To gather content for our #TheSecretLifeofScience posts, we came up with some questions for our team and "passed the hat" at our Friday meetings.
Dr. Alexa Alexander-Trusiak picked this one. π

I had so much fun with this little blurb--got to use my video editing skills for the first time in forever to put together the image and the audio.
#SciComm#SciTwitter#FieldworkFriday
A bit of ambiance for this week's #FieldworkFriday! @EmHasMayflyCAD & alumni Tim Cox provided this pic/audio of the cows at one of our project sites, Havelock, being very vocal.
To learn more about our Havelock site/other projects, check out our website: https://t.co/oTUSmDGYMs
We are THRILLED to announce that our very own @mayfly_gal has had her 2nd article published in just over a month: "Risks of Mixtures of Oil Sands Contaminants to a Sensitive Mayfly Sentinel, Hexagenia." WTG, Julia! #Diversity@MDPIOpenAccess

So grateful to Anna for providing us with these images, and so impressed with what she captured using microscope photography for the first time!

Happy #MayflyMonday!
As part of her time with us, @BiologyUnb's Tidswell Intern, Anna Varty, went through some samples looking for aquatic invertebrates & took these photos of mayfly larvae herself!

Burgundy is one of my very favourite colours--something @MayflyShauna and I have in common!
She provided us with such a beautiful photograph for this Tweet. Thank you so much, Shauna! π
#SciComm#SecretLifeOfScience#WomenInSTEAM
Our first entry in #TheSecretLifeOfScience is from @MayflyShauna.
"My favourite color is burgundy. The best example I can give is the color of a Red trillium (Trillium erectum), which are abundant in the spring!"

I had a lot of fun last week heading out to @thislabmayfly's aquacosm site to document Anna and Emma's visit. Couldn't have been a more beautiful summer day for it!
#SciComm#WomenInSTEAM
We're wrapping up our first full week of regular content with the return of #FieldworkFriday!
Last week, @BiologyUnb's Tidswell Intern, Anna Varty, took a trip with @EmHasMayflyCAD to our newly expanded/levelled aquacosm site to take measurements.
#SciTwitter#Biology
I've just added a new interview section to @thislabmayfly's website! I had a chance to meet with Anna last week to talk with her about her work during her time with us. She is LOVELY. So excited that we get to feature her as our first interview. #SciComm#WomenInSTEM
We recently had the opportunity to work with @BiologyUnb's 2019 Tidswell Intern, Anna Varty! Anna is a grad of @FrederictonHigh who will be attending @UNBFredericton in the fall. Check out our chat with her via the link below.

It's kind of amazing how much music there is out there about mayflies, and the many different ways in which they inspire artists.
Also ... I love that I get to explore intersections between art and science as part of my work.
#SciComm#WomenInSTEAM
So excited to introduce #TuesdayTunes, mayfly-centric music to help you thru your Tuesdays.
Check out this laid-back song from Sarah and Julian. We love the understated way they visually echo the mayfly's life-cycle in this video. #SciTwitter#Biology

It's been a while since I've been able to do some graphic design. I had fun coming up with this little graphic for @thislabmayfly - and my inner English nerd geeked out over all the lovely synonyms for "ephemeral."
In other news, #MayflyMonday is BACK! Woot!
#SciComm#Biology
#MayflyMonday is BACK!
Mayflies belong the order of insect known as ephemeroptera. The name is drawn from the Greek word "ephΔmeros," meaning "lasting only a day," which is a nod to the short adult lifespan of mayflies. The modern word "ephemeral" is from the same root. #Biology
So psyched for next week. First week deploying the all-new content that the lovely folks
@thislabmayfly
have been helping me compile for the last month and a half.
#SciComm#SciTwitter#Biology
Happy Friday, everyone! Stay tuned next week for all-new content, including the return of #MayflyMonday & #FieldworkFriday, the debut of #TuesdayTunes, & an interview with our #TidswellIntern, Anna!

When you find a wilted and abandoned daisy in your building's hallway, you naturally rescue it, take it home, snip the end of its stalk, put it in fresh water so it will perk back up, & enjoy days of smiles & happiness every time you look at it.

I've had such a great week getting to introduce the lovely people I work with to the Twitterverse. Smart, talented, funny, & kind, these women are all a joy to work with. So grateful to @thislabmayfly that I get to be part of it all. Lots more fun to come next week! #SciComm
