I want to apologize.
When I originally posted this video of hundreds of people standing for a moment of silence for a fallen soldier in Raleigh NC airport, I thought it was a fallen soldier from Iran coming home.
I got that wrong.
This man was U.S. Air Force Maj. Alexander “SMO” Davis.
He was 34 years old and a Weapons System Officer onboard the B-52H Stratofortress that crashed shortly after takeoff last month at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
He was returned to his hometown of Goldsboro, North Carolina, where he will be laid to rest.
I’m proud of how my fellow North Carolinians honored him at the airport, thank you.
In a country so divided, it brought me to tears to see everyone united in honoring a fallen service member.
A property tax increase has taken effect in the Town of Burgaw, as town officials say the additional revenue is needed to meet the demands of the community's continued growth.

Thank You for Another Wonderful North Carolina Blueberry Festival! 🫐
What an incredible day celebrating our community, our agricultural heritage, and all things blueberry!🇺🇸🫐
🥵 Burgaw is feeling the heat! The temperature has climbed to 93°, but it feels like 99° this afternoon under sunny skies. Stay hydrated, limit time outdoors, & check on vulnerable neighbors & pets.

Inspiring week last week as @floodcoalition hosted our Local Elected Leaders Summit in Washington DC.
Over 60 local leaders from different states and different parties committed to improving how our nation prepares for and responds to flooding disasters.
As leaders and advocates from a region deeply affected by recurring storms, rising waters, and infrastructure vulnerabilities, we appreciate the continued attention and conversations to the resilience and long-term sustainability of our coastal and rural communities. Eastern North Carolina has experienced firsthand the economic, environmental, and personal impacts of flooding, and we are here today to share local perspectives, discuss opportunities for federal partnership, and advocate for proactive investments that strengthen flood mitigation, infrastructure resilience, and community preparedness.
Thank you to the American Flood Coalition, AFC, for their commitment to this issue.
