Stumbled across this video of my daughter Annabel 'reading' The Hungry Caterpillar in her cot. She's not two any more, so this little snapshot of her reading journey is very precious.
Year 3&4 at Christ Church school in Ware loved the virtual session with @LennyHenry yesterday. We’ve been reading The Boy With Wings since the start of term and finished today! Here is some feedback from the children. #TheBookofLegends
@gusdoodle It went down to a deciding vote between Nevermoor and Wolf Wilder. And I had to promise to put WW into the next vote. And to try and read all of the rest of the books before they leave for Year 5 😂
And the winner of the Year 4 wintry book vote was….
Nevermoor
Looking forward to rereading this with new listeners.
And a quote from Zach (9) that made me smile …”PLEASE can we read all the others afterwards?”My teasers must have sold them all well 😄 #ourfp
A poem for Hull I wrote on the way to yesterday’s gig cos people always hate on hull who haven’t been. Thank you for having me in your lovely city at Wrecking Ball bookshop and bar. Also go there, it’s great! https://t.co/ggOCl8XivS
Looking forward to the Xmas Book Club party tonight with turkey, secret book Santa and this which was a page turner for me. Mexican migrants riding atop a train from Acapulco through Mexico to USA. Several heart in mouth moments. I recommend for an easy unchristmassy read.
Interesting listening about the teaching of fluency in classrooms. I’ve only recently discovered this podcast so am working my way through the back catalogue. Recommend this one @TimRasinski1 has a lot of practical advice and resources to explore. https://t.co/J3ZfF7YrxD
@MrsCrofty72@mrspennyslater Thank you @MrsCrofty72 and I’m glad you enjoyed it. I loved how accepting the children were. Times are definitely changing and our whole school shared stories are making a difference 👍
Just finished watching the BBC adaptation of this book with my 10 year old. We both loved it. So well made and thought provoking. We’ve had some great discussions about racism, colonialism, privilege, politics. Really good 👍
Thanks for this birthday present @claireant. Just finished. Dangerous reading material for someone who’s just finished a marathon training block and is looking for the next challenge. Although this book parks several runs firmly in the ‘don’t ever try that’ column.
