Are you on the ground or are you in the ground? Is the weight thrown forward or is the weight controlled forward? Is the swing long or does the swing have length? Are you trying to stay on the pitch or does the swing work through the pitch effortlessly?
I will cherish my moments with this young man forever!
Working with you and mentoring you through the tough things was an honor. This is what life and relationships are all about. Watching your adaptability and consistency as hitter was a lot of fun. Watching you treat yourself with patience during the grind was also a huge period of growth.
You always came in ready to work, learn, and be coached. This is why you get better. Many athletes say they want to get better, they say they want to improve, they say they want to learn, but their actions do not align with their words. You, Maddox, were always ready for the lessons. You are always open to our conversations, and your respect for me, my team, others, and more importantly yourself was constantly on display.
I try my best to lead with God’s word thru my actions. Being able to sit down and share our love for God daily was the highlight of our days for me.
Thank you for trusting me these last two
Summers. I am grateful!
Now… let’s keep after it this fall!!!
Proud of you, brother!
What a time it’s been. I couldn’t ask for better people to train with. Over the last two summers with Primal, I have learned and matured not only as a baseball player but a person, a brother, a friend, a son, a man and not just a man but a man of God. These times are what I will tell my future kids about when they ask about my high school days or “good ole days.” These people have truly changed the course of my baseball career and not only that but have changed the course of my life. From day 1, I was welcomed with open arms. It felt like they wanted me there and they wanted to help me out. Not just there to collect a paycheck. I have not only gained a fantastic coach but a brother. I have learned things that I thought I would never learn. Stuff I thought I wasn’t smart enough for. These guys have challenged me mentally. In a good way haha. They had me use my brain to problem solve. From that I have learned not just baseball but how to conquer adversity in life.
To my brother Tommy Johnson,
Thank you for accepting me into your family. Thank you for opening your doors and arms to me. Thank you for all the pre and post hitting session talks about the best three things in life. Baseball, God, and family. Thank you for the countless hours of BP. Thank you for challenging me even when it was frustrating. Thank you for teaching me with patience and understanding. Thank you for listening to me when times were rough or I was struggling.
The thank you’s are endless. Without you I would not be where I am or the man I am today. From our time here, we have both said countless times, I truly gained a brother. The words are endless and are incapable of describing the amazing man, father, husband, son, and brother you are. Work doesn’t stop yet. Love you brotha.
