Because it is one of the few things the founders saw fit for the federal government to be in charge of. The real question is why are we spending 4 to 5 trillion dollars on things like welfare and other government assistance programs that are not the constitutional authorized per view of the federal government.

Also I would like a tax refund on all the money that I have had forcibly taken from me at the treat of my freedom that has gone for things like trans this and trans that. Puppet show in foreign countries. My tax dollars going to a government that committed treason by flying in thousands of foreign nationals in my country against my will. This is why I am ok with upping the military budget.
