@jeffseibert @AdamTzag @Lutron FWIW we run Home Assistant talking directly to our Lutron bridges. It allows renaming/regrouping/whatever and then exposes the new entities to other ecosystems like HomeKit. The added latency has been unnoticeable and it supports far more complex automation as a bonus.
