as a young person who hasn't ever experienced (consciously) such a new industry shift (web3, funded and propagandized by a16z) until now, the one-sided idealism has been pretty astounding, and @zachweinberg is more important than anyone realizes
"We build software to ensure the survival of our most vital institutions. And we succeed only if and when those institutions do." - Alex Karp, Palantir
hilarious to see anti-crypto people jump on this opportunity to discredit an entire space & industry just because asset prices are down - this is a fallacy
“It became so dogmatically progressive that maintaining the purity of the politics required accepting—or at least ignoring—devastating results.” - @NellieBowles re: SF
@christine_hall plz provide additional value added, long term & meaningful use cases
“digital ownership on the web!” , “tons of future use cases”
what are they, in your opinion?
have been listening to a lot of Brian Armstrong. blown away by how uninspiring he is as a leader and his views on crypto etc. - aka the guy that should be the most inspiring champion of this whole space
@Carnage4Life@pmarca and @cdixon talk about web3 as a guarantee because it’s facing the same criticisms + evolution web1 did. Thats simply one historical comparison, not much of a sample size to be able to predict the future off of. Echo chambers in the a16z offices on sand hill road
@Carnage4Life dude, the a16z magic show of garbage “metaverse” investments has been astonishing. it’s single handedly warped my opinion on their leaders - grateful someone else has been watching. Axie and Opensea will be two of the biggest VC disasters ever
