$META SETTLES TEEN SOCIAL MEDIA CASE FOR UP TO $16.68B

Meta has settled with 29 states over claims that Instagram and Facebook harmed children, misled users about safety, and improperly collected data from users under 13.

Court filings show Meta agreed to pay up to $16.68B as part of the deal.

The settlement ends the federal trial in California and avoids potential penalties the states had argued could reach around $200B, while Meta had estimated worst-case exposure as high as $1.4T.
