@mmalex@wren6991 The thing that happens is that you get double clocking because of noisy edges. So lowering the frequency makes no difference. You need to show the edges, hence the series resistor.

@tom_verbeure Can confirm that bringing up your own chip is in fact a thrill. I got to do it in undergrad, and the day it came in my partner and I dropped everything to wire it up (it worked!). MOSIS has been doing this for free (or maybe my school paid a fee?) for a while.
