At the general conference leadership meeting on Thursday, April 2, 2026, 91 new Area Seventies were announced and presented for a sustaining vote. Another 73 Area Seventies will be released on or before August 1, 2026.
Area Seventies are leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called by the First Presidency to be “especial witnesses” and to assist the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in “building up the church and regulating all the affairs” and “preaching and administering the gospel” in their assigned areas (Doctrine and Covenants 107:25, 34, 38). They act under the keys and direction of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

He died for us so that we could be redeemed. What a Good Friday indeed. There is no greater love than Christ's willing sacrifice for us! As we use Good Friday to remember Jesus Christ, how will you follow His example of love?

During the Saturday morning session of the April 2026 general conference, Latter-day Saints participated in a solemn assembly. They sustained President Dallin H. Oaks as prophet, seer, and revelator, along with the other members of the First Presidency, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and other senior leaders in their respective roles.
“I express our gratitude as leaders of the Church for our members’ sustaining vote, prayers, and support,” President @OaksDallinH said at the beginning of the session. “We also pray for you to be guided and prospered as you continue the great service you give to the children of God throughout the world.”

“As we pray continually, no matter the circumstances of life, the Lord will offer us peace and abiding support.” — President Henry B. Eyring (@EyringHB) #GeneralConference
When 12-year-old Jesus was found by His parents teaching in the temple, He told them that He had been “about [His] Father’s business” (Luke 2:49).
And we can be too. Every calling, whatever it may be, is “His business” when embraced with a humble and willing heart and a desire to lift and comfort His children and to share His good news.
President Dallin H. Oaks has provided us with a wonderful example of what it means to be about our Father’s business. Today we had the sacred opportunity to come together to raise our hands in support of President Oaks, to sustain him as the Lord’s prophet, seer, and revelator.
We have signified our willingness to uphold President Oaks by our confidence, faith, and prayers.
While today is certainly solemn in purpose, it is also a day full of gratitude and rejoicing at the opportunity for the whole Church to come together and exercise common consent.
Life is better, everything is better, when we are about His business. I pray that on this day when we sustain our prophet and president you will find great joy as you also rededicate yourself to the Saviour’s ministry.
