@FoundationDads As a mom of a 4 yr old boy, I appreciate this advice and will keep it in mind has he continues to grow. We've already had the don't hit girls talk and sometimes you do have to hit that boy back. Thanks again
Boys are knights in training.
A boy who is not becoming more dangerous will be unable to protect anything. Here are 11 ways to raise dangerous sons.
1. Donโt tell your sons to be careful. Tell them to pay attention.
Expect your boys to be wild and get hurt.
@thriving__kids Appreciate this post so much. My son is 4 and just really getting Christmas. We r taking him on a local Polar Express ride and he is psyched. We also incorporate a lot of baby Jesus talk too. He's involved with our church Christmas pagent. ๐ To me, it's all magical
If your kids are young, and you plan on doing the whole Santa thing, here's a recommendation
The window where they are old enough to understand it (~3-4yrs) and when they hear rumblings of the truth (8-10yrs) is very short
We were given advice to make the most of this short window so that's what we did.
We went all out every year:
- Ashy boot prints by the fireplace
-"Caught" santa on video (dad dressed up)
-Deer hoof prints in the snow
-Santa wrote back to all their letters
Seeing my kids fully buy into the magic of Christmas is/was an amazing experience
And even though its a white lie, I feel it is a special gift to give my kids that added to their childhood
My kids are now 8 & 10. Their friends have older siblings. They hear things. They know some people dont believe. Its a matter of time now.
But I'm confident that when they do figure it all out they will appreciate the memories we gave them.
And I know it helped build a love for Christmas in them.
I've always loved the holidays. But raising my kids to love the holidays has made it even more special.
If you're going this route, go all out.
It will be over before you know it.
Great explanation of how sugar impacts kid's brains & behaviour
The recommended intake of added sugar for kids is 20 pounds a year
But the average kid is eating 65-70 pounds per year!
This is a big reason for the over-diagnosis of ADHD
This insane amount of sugar is changing how kid's brains work and making them hyperactive
Plus takes them down a path of obesity & disease
The best strategy to reduce sugar intake is to reduce processed foods
These foods contain added sugars and high-sugar ingredients like High Fructose Corn Syrup
Instead, offer plenty of high protein and high fat options to kids like meats, dairy, nuts, eggs...
Sure, feeding kids real foods take more effort from parents.
But giving kids the gift of good health is worth it.
@DoubleJ_CCIE@_NateNorman This is a really problem today in our society. As a parent, I even feel this pressure from his Aunt and Grandma to - not make him different from the other children - help him fit in. Thanks for this comment
@thriving__kids Look at those bright colors. I find that not having the stuff in the home is the best I can do. It's a difficult concept for kids to understand.
