Before underwriting an AI deal, ask:
Where does the edge come from?
Does it compound?
Do customers choose you for it?
Very few pass all three. https://t.co/dvcqOJLUfe
My friend Max wrote a cool thing, the deepest unhappiness is a quiet self-betrayal: knowing what you should do and refusing until you can defend it. But the best leaps were never argued into existence. They were felt first and explained later, if at all.

@endowment_eddie Anxiety is chaos you created. Pressure is trust you earned. When people expect a lot from you, it means your execution has made running hot the default.
@Curiousjorge65 Bret’s talented and Sierra looks strong. 100M ARR this fast is wild. The question is what the curve looks like from here, does it keep bending up, flatten, or sag? Still in the voting-machine phase; not sure the weighing machine will be as generous at maturity. Hope I’m wrong.
@Todd_Sykon Doesn't even scratch the surface. Too many PE investors have been trained to manage companies from the financial statements and ignore customers in favor of "margins" there are no natural exits for a "$150m ebitda tree servicing platform"
@JasonrShuman Cost cutting is not a competitive advantage. Pe hold period is 5-6 years (what they tell LPs at least). I'd be shocked if intuit or a startup doesn't build an AI app for tax filing in that time.
Further they're burdening these legacy businesses with OpenAI salaries
