I attended the final day of Dr Billy Ralph's Hearing before the Medical Council. It was sickening to listen to.

Dr Ralph was found "Guilty" of "undermining public health guidelines"

A very sad reflection of what happens when any Doctor tries to blow the whistle on some of the corruption that lies at the heat of the Medical Establishment.

Referendum Deception Exposed as Labour TD Admits 2018 Safeguards Were to Trick Voters

As the Dáil narrowly advanced Sinn Féin’s bill to scrap the mandatory three-day reflection period for early abortions by 86 votes to 70, fresh scrutiny has fallen on the cynical politics behind the 2018 referendum “safeguards.” Labour TD Marie Sherlock’s open admission that the wait was merely a “political fix” to make the legislation “more palatable” has been seized upon as evidence of deliberate voter manipulation.

In her Dáil contribution and jubilant Facebook video, Sherlock dismissed the 72-hour pause as “demeaning, degrading and moralistic”.
She explicitly acknowledged it was inserted not for clinical reasons, but to reassure a sceptical public and secure the Yes vote to repeal the Eighth Amendment.

For critics, this is a damning confession: the reflection period was bait, a temporary concession sold to moderate voters. Once the constitutional barrier fell, the plan was always to dismantle the promised limits and accelerate access.
This approach, opponents argue, undermines democratic consent. Many voted Yes precisely because of the assurances of meaningful checks, including the three-day window for reflection. Sherlock’s celebration confirms the safeguards were never meant to endure. The human cost is the fast-tracking of tens of thousands more abortions with fewer opportunities for second thoughts. HSE data showing over 10,000 women who did not return after an initial consultation underscores the pause’s protective value.

Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín strongly opposed the bill, highlighting its implications for women and the unborn. He pointed to last year’s record 10,852 abortions and argued the three-day period has already saved thousands of lives by giving women space to reconsider. Tóibín drew attention to the party dynamics: while most parties granted a free vote, Sinn Féin enforced a strict whip. Many Sinn Féin TDs privately disagreed but were forced to vote against their conscience, against the 2018 democratic framework, and against the safeguards promised to the Irish people just eight years ago.

Those Sinn Féin TDs uncomfortable with their party’s hardline stance should now seriously consider decanting over to Aontú, which has consistently defended the original 2018 framework and pro-life safeguards.

Sherlock’s “more palatable” comment, combined with Sinn Féin’s rigid whipping, paints a troubling picture of political expediency. What voters were promised in 2018 is being steadily unpicked. The three-day reflection period was one of the most visible reassurances. Its removal is viewed by many as a betrayal that accelerates the destruction of unborn life while eroding faith in referendums.

The bill now proceeds to the Committee Stage. Whether other elements of the original framework will also be changed or removed remains to be seen, but the pattern of incremental liberalisation after securing the repeal is clear.
For Tóibín and others, this episode is not just about one waiting period, it is about whether Irish democracy still respects the commitments made to secure profound constitutional change.
