The SSE process ensures that schools are looking into their own practices and constantly reflecting on them to ensure they are constantly improving and working well as a team #SI401
The presentations this week highlighted important issues surrounding leadership for change. Rather than each of us reading every article, I thought that the sharing of the main the ideas in each article to our peers was beneficial in learning the key points of each #SI401

In order to raise the standards in schools, we need to have appropriately high expectations of all students, build their self-esteem, have mutual respect, persevere with all students and be flexible and understanding to the context in which the children are learning #SI401
The trend in DEIS schools shows that retention levels are high but attainment levels are generally low which limits the number of children from Deis schools having access to 3rd level. As teachers we need to find ways to boost the children's levels of attainment #SI401
Rather than only valuing higher education or further education, we should be looking at enabling everyone to contribute to society in whatever way they can #SI401
As teachers we are responsible for each child's learning. We need to make efforts to unpack concepts if the children are struggling. We need to be proactive in finding what interests a child, finding a way in. #SI401
It was interesting to think about the context in which the children may be living. We can't assume that parents can support the children's learning at home because they may much bigger issues. They may not have the skills to be involved in their child's learning #SI401
