A surprising majority of voters (68%) — across party lines — agree about the solution to that problem: a meeting of the states to propose constitutional amendments for fiscal responsibility, limits on federal power, and term limits for career politicians. "From a practical perspective, Trump’s involvement could ensure success of the movement working toward holding such a convention of states. Under Article V, the legislatures of 34 states must pass resolutions in order to hold it. There are 20 states which have already agreed to the measure. Trump carried 31 states in the 2024 presidential election. Of these, 17 have not yet approved the resolution.

If Trump backs the measure and campaigns for an Article V convention, many of these 17 states would certainly get on board."
