More about the secondary wall! A cell having mor secondary walls directly correlates to the said cell being stronger. Wood for example is composed mainly of secondary walls and wood is very strong, plant cells have perforated channels in adjacent cells. #CellvilleAllen2021

Now let me tell you about my other form! The secondary cell wall is added between plasma membranes and the primary cell wall. It is often deposited in several individual layers with a strong matrix that affords the cell protection and support. #CellvilleAllen2021

Oh but there’s more cool stuff! I am attracted to these sticky polysaccharides which glues all of the cell walls of other cells together. When the cell matures it stops growing and it strengthens its wall. Cells do this by by excreting hardening substances. #CellvilleAllen2021

Just when you thought I was out of tricks theres more, I have 2 separate forms which develop in a cells life. A young plant cell first secretes a thin and flexible wall called the primary cell wall. I then interact with the middle lamella to stick to others. #CellvilleAllen2021

My great microfibrils synthesize cellulose synthase which secretes to the extracellular space, which then mixes in the matrix with other polysaccharides, the fibrous combination is the same basic design in concrete reinforced steel and fiberglass. #CellvilleAllen2021

I am a man of great structural integrity. Not many things can oppose the force of gravity but I am able to hold up specialized cells. I am much thicker than plain old plasma membranes being able to be up to several micrometers thick. #CellvilleAllen2021

All transport of substances between plant cells involves the cell wall. Apoplastic transport is one method which I utilize to move things around, it involves movements through the matrix of the cell wall and occurs between neighboring cells. #CellvilleAllen2021 #MCGA
