In my early morning walks along Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa City, I usually notice this particular woman engrossed in baking mandazi and cheerfully serving it with tea to her customers, mostly hustlers walking to their places of work.

She is Asha Sidi Chengo, whose focus is to fend for the family and secure the future of her children.

Today, I reached out to her to understand her drive.

I hosted Asha at the Official Residence in Mombasa.

The deep determination to live a dignified life and specifically offer her children quality education stood out in our conversation.

It was, therefore, deserving to support Asha in expanding the hustle, besides Education for her two teenage sons.

Today, at Harambee House Annex, I chaired the Ad Hoc Cabinet Committee on Disaster Response to assess the situation and firm up ongoing response activities across the country.

The Government is seized of the situation and will deploy adequate resources to ensure safety of Kenyans and return to normalcy in affected areas as fast as possible.
