if someone puts a story and narritive, carefully prompting to maintain continuity… that is impressive. any tool that helps make that easier? really impressive. A montage of completely random fantasy scenes that make literally no sense? Boring. The first company that moves past this current trend will make waves. Veo3 is an example.

purely fantastical demos of AI video is incredibly played out. we know it does this already. short clips of disjointed exaggerated scenes have nearly zero value when everyone has access to these models. people are done with the flashy montages. that’s not selling the idea to anyone right now

Most of the areas on the map don’t even have 1 million people in them. That means that some of those areas had maybe a handful of cases depending on their population.

The data is skewed here to look like there is some quickly growing threat. The reality is that it’s extremely unlikely you’ll catch this even if you go into the woods regularly.

It’s also reassuring to know that contraction of diseases from ticks is relatively low until 36 to 48 hours after it has attached itself. That means if you shower or check yourself regularly, you have an incredibly low chance of contracting disease. Most of the time you can catch ticks before they even attach, as they crawl around on you a bit before finding a good spot.

It’s scary, yes. But it’s something we can mitigate. Maybe per capita rates of contraction have gone up? I don’t know. But this graphic doesn’t tell us that info.
