@RykerJackson97 This is legit. Our building is one of these. All 4 wards in our building are being relocated in October til the project is done. Weโre being told it will be at least a year.
Why I came back to activity in the LDS church, and have stayed a member, despite having an irreverent sense of humor, and an outlook on life jaded by my military experience, plus seeing so much hypocrisy and foolishness among the membership proper, as well as seeing too much of what human nature does to people when they're not restrained by what Abraham Lincoln once called 'better angels' . . .
1) Direct personal experiences only attributable to the spirit, and the Lord's intervention. No, you don't have to accept that at face value. What matters is that I accept it. These have literally changed and saved my life. To deny them would be to self-damn in the worst way possible.
2) There are hundreds of Christian faith traditions across the globe. All of them are in some proximity, either near or far, to Christ's core gospel. The spirit says the LDS church is where I need to keep my flag planted. Not because the people in the church are perfectโthey're usually very not perfectโbut because this specific church is where I'm supposed to be.
3) The ways and "wisdom" of the world continue to go badly off the rails. I remember thinking as a kid, when we were warned that the United States would grow corrupt and come utterly under the influence of the Adversary, that I couldn't imagine it. Well, now I don't have to imagine it. It's real, and we are all surrounded by corruption and perniciousness every day. And it's going to keep making life for LDS faithful more and more uncomfortable as time goes by. I accept this. I am not thrilled about it. But I still accept it.
4) They say God hates a coward, and I think that's correct. it would be so easy to do what others have done, and just walk away. Conclude it was all a self-delusion. Or, worse, a hoax perpetrated on me by bad actors. I could invent four dozen reasons to walk, and have a grudge about it. But all of this would simply be me seeking an excuse to not have to think about my duties and responsibilities as one of those who stood with the Host of Heaven at the beginning, and elected Choice (caps c), with all glory to the Father. I may be a sucky failure at performing to Peter Priesthood standards, but I refuse to wimp out. This gospel is a gospel worth fighting for.
