"If I were emperor of the world, I would put the pedal to the floor on energy efficiency and conservation for the next decade". Dr Steven Chu, Nobel Prize Winner stated in 2007. 13 years later it is largely untouched in Irish climate policy or planning.
Words fail. Not enough to take direct@Ryanair sponsorship, now @tcddublin has just appointed a “CRH Chair of #Climate Science”, sponsored by, you’ve guessed it, one of Ireland’s top carbon polluters.

@Richdublin@whittledaway No single country can affect the climate on its own. It requires all countries to reduce GHG emissions as quickly and justly as possible, especially high emitting, wealthy countries like Ireland.
@SPhone568@NicholasDCarter There is no suggestion that they stop producing food, merely that they produce it more sustainably. They can increase food production and comply with these measures.
@darraghwo@think_or_swim VW strongly advise against charging more than 80% to maximise battery life. This reduces day to day range but for long journeys you can charge to 100%.
@darraghwo@think_or_swim How does 2% p.a end up with a battery life of 10 years? The battery will last as long as the car albeit with a reduced range in later years.
Latest electricity bill €56 including €46 standing charge and including EV charging. Incredible combination of PV and EV. Don’t charge EV from PV, charge at night rate and export PV as much as possible. Better for your pocket and GHG emissions.
Got electricity bill yesterday: 65€ for 2 months. Incredible considering that it includes 2 months of motoring with an EV. Hard to beat energy efficiency and solar PV.
