Elon Musk couldn’t have picked a more epic time to IPO @SpaceX. Just in this last couple of months:
• Google signs on for $920M/mo AI compute deal beginning in October 2026
• Anthropic $1.25B/mo Colossus compute deal
• $6.45B in US Space Force contracts
• Successful Starship V3 debut
• Terafab partnership with Intel
• FCC approval and first stage closes on $17B EchoStar spectrum deal (65 MHz nationwide).
I think it’s safe to say SpaceX has a real big shot of becoming the world’s most valuable company in the not too distant future.
"Main Street is growing, it's not just artificial intelligence."
@mcmonaghan of @FounderETFs tells @JD_Durkin that AI job loss concerns are "overdone," with today's hot jobs print and restaurant hiring pointing to strong consumer confidence heading into the week.
Anthropic and Google are now paying @SpaceX a combined $2.17 billon per month for compute capacity. That's a revenue run rate of $26 billion per year. BIG MONEY.
The best startup pitches, like the best books, make claims that are unequivocal. A lot of what I do in office hours at this point in the batch, with demo day approaching, is figure out exactly how much the startup can truly claim.
If big companies can't make a net return on their LLM token costs, that doesn't mean it's impossible to. In fact this is exactly what you'd expect to happen with a new technology. Incumbents can't use it well, and are replaced by upstarts who can.
@JohnTinsman In fairness if you say you are going to buy and hold a stock, then you shouldn’t be selling it. Generally the now flipping rules are waived on broken deal price.
Not surprisingly, the best IPO roadshow ever. Brett tells the story so well, I was most impressed with how little capital @SpaceX has spent to get where they are. Founders are built differently. @elonmusk vision, execution, and grit show through in where the company is and where it is going. Several weeks ago, I modelled out $200B revenue for 2030 on a napkin on Katy Trail in Dallas. The @GoldmanSachs numbers make mine look conservative. Lets make token factories in space and go to mars!🚀
In 2001 I intercepted a partner at a VC who was trying to escape his office before our meeting was supposed to start. I ended up pitching him in his parked Lexus from the passenger seat.
At one point he grabbed my laptop placed on his large belly which was pressed against the steering wheel and rapidly flipped through the slides himself.
2001 fundraising hit different
Underrated life advice: Have a place where you go to think. A porch. A trail. A coffee shop. A park bench. Somewhere your mind knows it's time to slow down. Most people spend their lives searching for answers. Few create the conditions for answers to appear.
.@satyanadella just put the whole "water" debate to rest.
Datacenters run on a closed loop cooling system, the water usage of a datacenter for an entire year is roughly equivalent to a usage of 1 restaurant!
