@ new followers since moving to SF(!) — allow me to reintroduce myself:
I'm Devan (day-vin), and I've spent my entire life in marketing. education started early, I started attending my dad's @uclaanderson marketing classes at ~11. I started a clothing company at 15, a tech startup at 18, and have been working in tech ever since.
I ended up going to @babson, I consulted on early stage growth at some startups, I led growth at some other startups, and most recently I was building/launching new AI/video products @heygenlabs. now I'm onto something new, still lowkey for now, but ask me about it 👀
if we haven't already gotten the chance to know each other, my DMs are open and I'm excited to meet you!
if you're interested in the long story, link's in my bio
@joshua_xu_ my finding is that every autonomous message (if any) has to be immensely valuable outside any of the user's own work, otherwise it gets spammy and feels like constant fluff
first: figure out who you're speaking to. was this a video to recruit hardcore engineers? or is this a video to *show* everybody what's actually coming out of stealth?
as someone who’s not a hardcore engineer, I still want to be able to approach and understand the brand, the problems, and the solutions you’re discussing
this video is a good example of 90% jargon that outsiders don’t understand (never heard of eventual consistency, spanner, region failure drill, etc.). maybe i'm not the right audience, but then your X strategy feels misaligned with your actual audience on X.
it's stuff you know very well that would ease my pain; frame problems/solutions that resonate, “get from point A to point B without owning a car” or "deliver food without owning a kitchen" are both so digestible to normal people. you would never put out a launch video calling it “a geospatially optimized mobility fulfillment network” because it wouldn’t hit the same.
i’m SO excited to follow Atoms, the vision you lay out is extremely compelling, but I'm desperately clinging on when this is the only content I see from you guys. so, it’s a fine video, actually love the authenticity behind it, maybe just in the wrong place/with the wrong target?
much love and respect to you and the team! always happy to talk more, just a DM away
