@GrumpyCompSci Acutally a for/else loop…. With the else working if the loop terminates (runs) normally — doesn’t need the if bit. Python does have some ‘interesting’ bits :-)
@CompSciOxford If only the system was working - keeps locking students and then not showing questions. Then the telephone numbers provided just auto-disconnect.... @UniofOxford
Testing out a vivi box @ViviEducation to compare with ditto @TryDitto - screen sharing / digital signage with the idea to allow easy screen sharing from both staff and student devices
We're thrilled to announce we won! 🏆🌟🌟🌟🌟
The Independent School of the Year 2023 Award for Outstanding New Initiative for our STEM Communication Programme! 🚀👨🔬
We're immensely proud and grateful to our amazing #STEM community! 🙏👏👏👏

Was great to present at the @ATMMathematics virtual conference discussing how mathematics can be seen in Computer Science NEA, EPQs and also our @natmatsci STEM commmnication project.
@MrAColley Jupyter notebooks and then just uploaded to a Teams assignment (not sure we can run in OneNote - will try). I’ve not looked at unit testing yet but having asked students to complete a subroutine I have put testing statements for them to use and check against before submitting
Really enjoying testing Python notebooks inside Teams as an assignment - and also setting a rubric for marking.
Can also put in quick plots to link ideas around data analysis for our mathematicians.
Thanks to @daveyweston for virtually training us today at @natmatsci on @edpuzzle - will continue to explore what this tool can offer in terms of encouraging our students to engage with video and enhance how they learn from it.
@CompSci_HoD Interesting to think what needs to change…. Is it what we teach? Is it the conditions? Is it the pay? I’m still trying to inspire students about our great subject - 25 years in
When you try to consider the question does year affect CO2 emission to find you big data only contains cars from 2002…. At least the students could answer the question ‘what does our plot show?’ Part of NatMatSci’s STEM communication program.
