🗓️ Simulation of the continuation phase of an on-site inspection is advancing at the OSI 2024 Build-Up Exercise (BUE24) in Hungary.

It’s been an action-packed week for the surrogate inspectors negotiating with their counterparts & deploying a wide range of inspection techniques.

🌐 OSI Build-Up Exercise 2024 (BUE24) is underway in Hungary! Simulating the continuation phase of an on-site inspection (OSI), #BUE24 aims to validate & refine OSI capabilities to prepare for #CTBT’s entry into force.

Surrogate inspectors & expert participants are working tirelessly to further narrow the search zones within an inspection area of approx 382 sqkm during this simulation, using increasingly advanced techniques listed in the Treaty, which allow for further examination of the initial findings.

Several of those #nuclear tests took place on Australian soil. We have incurred environmental and human damage from these tests. This contributes to our 🇦🇺 desire to see a legally binding ban on nuclear tests - #CTBT. Thank you @tkassenova for sharing the story of Kazakhstan.
