So happy that @EDGI_AUS has launched! It's the participants that make this global study so amazing! Thanks to each and every one of you! https://t.co/gLIbW7AA5e
Weight is expected to increase every year and yes, even in teens who have stopped growing in linear height through age 19. Gaining weight is expected in college.
Imagine if we didn’t vilify the “freshman 15” and normalized the fact that bodies change.
Every day in my practice I witness the destruction left by the war on “obesity” and failed diet attempts. Against this backdrop, I believe that above all else, my duty to my patient is to not harm them.
You can’t learn everything about eating disorder in 30 days, but “First 30 Days” will give parents a powerful jump start to continue on their own day 31.

A person's weight is not a reflection of their health. I was constantly praised when I was losing weight yet I was miserable, out of control, and killing myself. Gaining weight has been hard but it has also saved me. It was healthy for me to gain weight!
Help us meet our target of more than 3,500 NZ participants by volunteering for our study today. Participants must be aged 16 years & over, & diagnosed with or currently living with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa or binge-eating disorder.

The weakest reason I get for rejecting FBT is that the teen does not want to do it. In my opinion, the child’s perspective should have no bearing on whether you decide to use an effective, research-supported treatment to help them.
H/t @TherapistAlli : New study shows that watching growth curves could allow for earlier #eatingdisorder diagnosis: "for 48% of our patients, the growth-curve deviation was detectable at a median of 9.7 months before the first symptoms occurred" https://t.co/WTIIyH6jpn
I can’t believe that I'm celebrating 2 years of my book release, “When Your Teen Has An Eating Disorder”! 🎉
Happy 2nd birthday! 🥳
If you aren’t familiar, it’s a really great book for parents (and providers) who are looking for an introduction to #FBT.
Not a week goes by without me hearing from someone that NHS ED Services have let them down, treated them as if their weight was the only important thing, discharged them because they didnt get better quick enough, turned them away because they are overweight. ITS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
Be aware: some of the prepacked box meals at colleges with limited dining options (due to COVID) may be too small. Be prepared to supplement with additional sides and snacks. #eatingdisorders#HAES#intuitiveeating
Crummy College Quarantine Food Goes Viral: A Lemon as a Side Dish? https://t.co/TYF30ldJOi. And what about the students with #eatingdisorders. How will they manage this?!?
If your child is struggling with an eating disorder, please consider keeping them home this semester.
Sending them away before they’re ready - particular during a pandemic creating additional food challenges- can have heartbreaking consequences.
