I revisit the question of ONT-only accuracy for bacterial genomes, and things have improved a lot since I last looked at this about six months ago!
Check out the latest preprint from Johnson Lab @LIMSLTU@SABE_latrobe and Piper Lab @MonashSci – a fully synthetic diet that supports #Drosophila development! We demo an application in fly models of human metabolic disorders. #nutrigenomics 🍔🪰🧬https://t.co/5bp84cMFnv

@osvaldoics @GuertinLab Feels like something @Addgene or ATCC would be well set up to handle. I know ATCC does have some deposited, modified lines already.
This is really cool, you can now explore a disease genotype/phenotype association in an isogenic human iPSC system without ever needing to learn how to use CRISPR or culture iPSCs.
(disclaimer - I'm an ex-employee of bit bio and hold shares, but I really do think it's cool!)
BIG NEWS! We launched our new Custom ioDisease Model Cell offering!
Scientists can order their mutation of choice to be genetically engineered in our consistent and defined opti-ox™️ powered human iPSC-derived cells.

Minipreps! They're a fact of life. But if they don't bring you joy, you might want to try new tactics or treat yourself to some fun new toys!
Our lab has done 2,625 minipreps so far. Let me share a few tidbits about our approach and our favorite pieces of equipment. 🧵 (1/n)
@AuriolAuriol @academic_exit@BioMickWatson The relatively high academic wages and lack of industry competition for talent in Australia means the first tweet doesn't really apply here.
Looking for a software engineer to join me and the talented team at AusTrakka - Australia's national pathogen genomics surveillance system. Based in Melbourne, Australia at @TheDohertyInst @ @UniMelb . 🇦🇺🦠🧫🧬🖥️ 🌴

@jil_hammond@nanopore I'm curious about why you want a P2 when you've got a P48. I thought you can start parallel runs at any time on the P48, so what is the advantage of the P2? Portability?

Happy International Jumping Spider Day! 🕷️ To celebrate, we have another great citizen science discovery. Donna Juanita photographed this undiscovered species on her property and kindly invited us over to sample it. We later found that it also lives in a nearby nature reserve!
